Selecting a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator ensures that you will be attending a class taught by a competent, highly qualified educator. Your instructors will thoroughly explain the changes your body will go through and what you can expect during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. In Lamaze class you will:

We focus on preparing for labor and delivery – relaxation, comfort measures, and the role of your labor support team including but not limited to:
- Normal labor, birth and early postpartum
- Positioning to facilitate the normal progress of labor and birth
- Massage techniques to ease the pain of labor and to enhance relaxation
- Comfort measures, such as hydrotherapy, the use of heat, cold and pressure
- Relaxation skills to use during labor and after pregnancy to relieve stress
- Labor support advice for the partner, the family and the Doula
- Communication skills for the pregnant woman with her partner and the healthcare team
- Problems that could occur during labor and birth
- The ability to make informed decisions about anesthesia and medical procedures
- Breastfeeding and the early postpartum period
- Healthy lifestyles for pregnancy and postpartum period
Who should I take a Lamaze class?
Whether you're a first-time or experienced parent, alone or with a partner, and no matter what type of birth experience you desire; a home birth, a birth center or a hospital birth, a un-medicated or an epidural or even a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), this Lamaze Certified Childbirth Education class will enrich your knowledge of childbirth and your relationship with your partner and your care provider.
When should I register?
It's recommended to start your class around your 32nd week of pregnancy. Classes fill quickly, register early to secure your seat.
What should I bring to class?
Yourself! We have almost everything you will need for class, including: comfortable cushion bottom chairs, large pillows if you want to sit on the floor, small pillows for your back or head, yoga mats, yoga balls, peanut balls and an assortment of massage tools.
